A livestream taken over by Team Rocket

To celebrate the launch of the new Team Rocket Booster Pack for Pokémon TCG Pocket, we transformed a Twitch livestream into a live, audience-controlled gaming experience.

Together with Havas Play and streamer WillNE, we created a series of interactive challenges that turned thousands of viewers from spectators into active participants in the stream.

Using Twitch chat, the audience worked together to decode paths, break through firewalls, solve Pokémon challenges and ultimately help Team Rocket take control, with every vote directly influencing what happened live on screen.

From campaign to game world

The visual direction of the stream grew directly from the Team Rocket campaign for Pokémon TCG Pocket.

We took that world beyond the campaign artwork and developed it across the full livestream: from the overall broadcast environment and transitions to the individual games, interfaces and animations.

Each challenge became its own little world. Crack the Firewall, Decode the Path, Lock Them Out and other games had different mechanics and visual setups, but were designed to feel like different stages of the same Team Rocket takeover.

Combining 3D, motion design and UI, we turned the campaign’s visual language into a live game experience that could evolve together with the stream.

Turning Twitch chat into a controller

Twitch chat became the main way to play. During each challenge, viewers had a short window to send their answer using A/B/C/D, numbers or Pokémon names, and the most popular response determined what happened next on screen.

Behind the scenes, we built the experience in Unity, connecting the games directly to Twitch chat and creating a dedicated control system for running the live show.

Each game worked slightly differently. Viewers could break through a firewall, complete an evolution, choose the right card or collectively navigate a path, with their responses feeding back into the experience in real time.

It meant that instead of simply watching Will play, thousands of viewers could play alongside him, using nothing more than the Twitch chat.

Thousands of viewers. One collective takeover.

The activation went live in August 2026, bringing Pokémon TCG Pocket, WillNE and the Twitch community together for a live interactive experience.

Over the course of the stream, thousands of viewers played along with WillNE, collectively sending more than 8,000 votes to solve challenges and shape what happened on screen.

After making their way through the final challenge, the takeover culminated in the reveal of the new Team Rocket Booster Pack.

By the end, Twitch chat wasn’t just reacting to the stream, it had become part of the game itself.
